Echinacea Tincture

What I love about Echinacea:
Its amazing ability to stimulate the immune function, when taken at the very first sign of illness.  This stimulating action, kick-starts the body into action against the cold or flu virus.  You may also find that it will decrease the duration of the illness.  Though a potent herbal ally, echinacea is safe, with few side effects, and even young children and the elderly can use it.

The echinacea tincture I make, starts in the spring and will not be finished until early winter, so keep this in mind for next year!  I begin by collecting a few first buds of flowers from my plants in the spring. I put these into a quart jar filled with vodka.  Then during the summer I will collect some of the beautiful flowers in full bloom and add to the jar.   And finely, during the fall, I will dig up just a portion of the root, wash and chop finely, and add them to the mix.  Throughout this whole process, I give thanks for the blessing of the ingredients I was given, and ask for the grace of healing and health to be infused into this beautiful herbal preparation.  This whole plant echinacea tincture is my very favorite way to extract all the wonderfulness of this plant.

To support your immune system, take at the first sign of cold or flu.  Adults can take 1-2 droppers every couple of hours.  Echinacea works best with frequent, small dosage.  Children can take 1/2 dropper in the same way.

What to remember about this wonderful herb:
Echinacea works best when taken at the very first sign of illness, before the bug has had a chance to settle in.  Frequent, small dosage of echinacea work best.

Many Herbal Blessings!
